News : Lifeboat fun day
The Southport Offshore Rescue Trust fun day, held on Bank Holiday Monday raised over £600 for the Southport Lifeboat.
Hundreds of people came to the event, held outside the lifeboat house, at Pleasureland car park, on the Esplanade.
The day included equipment displays, barbecue, tombola, raffle, sponge throwing and guess the teddies birthday.
Southport Fire and Rescue service and Southport Auxiliary Coastguards also attended the day.
The aim of the event was to highlight the Southport Lifeboat’s independence from the RNLI, now that they have taken over the beach Lifeguard service.
The Southport Lifeboat would like to thank Pleasureland, Morrisons Supermarket, GTR Signs, the Royal Clifton, The Victoria and Colin Poole for their support with the event, as well as everyone who attended.
The next event organised to raise money for the Lifeboat will be the Annual Summer Ball, which will be held on Saturday, 26th June at the Royal Clifton.
