News : Quads called out
This evening (Sun 7th Aug) at 8.25pm the Southport Lifeboat crew was paged to dispatch the quad bikes. A member of the public had contacted Liverpool Coastguard to report a person who was trying to walk to Blackpool. The quad bikes left the boathouse within 5 minutes and liaised with the Southport Auxiliary Coastguard Team on route to Rainford’s. Southport Coastguard guided the lifeboat quads to the man who was located 2 ½ miles North of the old Rainford’s sandwinning plant at Marshside. The quads picked the man up who was possibly hypothermic and transported him to a waiting Ambulance. The quads then returned to the boathouse to refuel and wash down ready for the next service.
